The National Cathedral
The Cathedral, completed in 1990, is the culmination of a two-century-long plan for a majestic Gothic style cathedral. This richly decorated cathedral is located on a landscaped 57 acre plot of land on Mount Saint Albans in Northwest Washington, 400 feet above sea level.
Ford's Theater National Historic Site
Ford's Theatre was the location of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln on the night of April 14, 1865, while the President and Mrs. Lincoln were attending a performance of the play, "Our American Cousin." Actor John Wilkes Booth, in this first assassination of an American president, removed Lincoln from leadership at the end of the American Civil War.
The Lincoln Memorial
The Lincoln Memorial stands at the west end of the National Mall as a neoclassical monument to the 16th President. It is the largest of Washington, D.C.'s reflecting pools, located directly east of the Lincoln Memorial visible in many photographs of the Washington Monument. It is lined by walking paths and shade trees on both sides. It reflects both the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. Located in the Constitution Gardens.
The John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts
The Kennedy Center is the busiest arts center in the country and is situated on 17 acres that overlook the Potomac River. There are more than 3,000 annual performances that span the entire spectrum of performing arts. Tours are available.
The White House
The White House is the private residence of the President of the United States and is the most recognized symbol of the United States government.
National Naval Medical Center
Located in Bethesda, Maryland the National Naval Medical Center is one of the largest military medical centers in the country. This innovative medical center provides state-of-the-art care for presidents, vice presidents, war veterans, members of Congress and Supreme Court justices.
The Capitol Building
In addition to housing the meeting chambers of the Senate and House of Representatives, The Capitol is a museum of American art and history. Guided tours for the public are available Monday through Saturday. Tickets are free and available on a first come, first served basis.
National Monuments

The Smithsonian Institution

As one of the Smithsonian museums, the Naval Air and Space Museum is home to the world's largest collection of historic aircraft and spacecraft. The building at the National Mall has the Apollo 11 module on display.
National Museum of Natural History
The National Museum of Natural History is part of the Smithsonian Institution and contains more than 125 artifacts that explore every subject of natural life from insects and animals to ancient civilizations and modern man.
Arlington National Cemetery
Arlington National Cemetery is the final resting place for more than 300,000 American heroes. Visit this peaceful cemetery and pay your respects to everyone from former presidents to war veterans.
